How Skyscanner can help make planning easier
One of the first steps in planning a trip on points is to see which airlines fly to your destination.
Sky Scanner is the first place I visit when looking for flights
It’s simple to use. I recommend entering “United States” in the “ From” section. This way you can see all the flights for the specific date you want to travel (or choose flexible dates) that are going from the U.S. to your destination. Sometimes is makes sense to take a cheap “positioning flight” to get to the airport in which your flight to your destination is leaving. For example. I found a great deal on Business class tickets to Hawaii but the flight went from LAX to Hawaii. I don’t live in LA so my family and I flew from Denver to LAX o Southwest in order to make that flight work.
Search results after I filtered to “direct” flight
I hit search and got a lot of results. I prefer direct flights (especially if I am positioning to an airport so I selected “direct” and these are the results I got.
When I clicked “Los Angeles” these are the results I got. This is where I start narrowing it down. Click on the different cities and weed out any airlines you don’t want to fly or the flights that will not work for you
If you have specific points you are wanting to use, look for airlines carriers that are transfer partners with the points you are wanting to use
This is one of the first things I do when I have a destination and dates in mind. Since we travel around a school schedule we can not be as flexible as I would like on dates but Skyscanner helps me plan which flights I am interested in and therefor what points I need to earn
