Hyatt Regency Waikiki
Hawaii is a DREAM destination for so many people, and do you want to know a secret? It’s very easy to get to Hawaii on points & miles.
We just got back from a 5-night vacation in Hawaii, on two different islands, flying First class into Hawaii and we paid $89.60 out of pocket.
Crazy right?
It’s possible for you too and actually not that hard!!
The Hyatt Regency Waikiki is a Category 7 and we spent 20,000 points for one night
Today I’ll be reviewing the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. We spent one night at here. We originally planned on going straight to Kauai BUT I was able to find 4 first class tickets to Waikiki on Hawaiian airlines on PEAK travel season (Thanksgiving time) which is a steal, so we changed our plans. We took a positioning flight (a cheap flight to get you to the city you want to fly out of) on Southwest from Denver to LAX.
We hung out at the Centurion Lounge for 5 hours, we ate and drank for free, and I even took a shower (review to come) and then we flew Hawaiian airlines to Waikiki (review also to come)
We arrived at the resort at 9pm. The staff were pleasant and let us know that we were upgraded to an ocean front view with our Hyatt Globalist status.
When we got to the room, we saw they also provided us with free champagne and a fruit tray and other complimentarily sweet treats. We asked for late check out since our flight to Kauai was not until 5pm and they allowed us to stay in our room until 3 and also gave us free drink coupons. The staff were so sweet and kind!
The location of the property is amazing! Right in the heart of Waikiki. Lots of shopping and restaurants within 2 minutes walking distance.
My son and my husband took surfing lessons from Moniz family surf. A locally owned company that we highly recommend!! Their instructor was so knowledgeable and they has a BLAST!! Whenever we travel, we like to support local families, and we highly recommend them if you want to learn how to surf and have a great time doing it!
I will say if you want to experience a nice pool. This is not your resort to do that. My daughter wanted to go to the pool and we were there for a bout 10 minutes because it was definitely not a cool spot, BUT the beach is a one minute walk so we were ok walking over to the beach :)
Overall, it’s a great hotel with a great location and staff are wonderful
